Underground Utility Construction

Handholes, vaults, core holes and restoration — the underground work that connects a route from end to end.

01Overview

Access points, core holes and restoration

A fiber route is more than its bores. Access points, equipment placements and clean restoration are what make a network serviceable for decades.

Handholes are smaller buried enclosures where cable can be pulled, stored and accessed; vaults are larger underground structures for equipment and splices. Both are set to the locations and specifications on the print.

ZMB Utilities installs handholes and vaults, cuts core holes where the work requires them, places equipment as the print specifies, and restores every disturbed surface — then records each installation for the as-built.
